Some of the buildings in Winnepeg has faboulus paingings.
This old car was parked in a lot. I liked the color.
We passed huge feed lots. These are the huge rectangle bails of hay piled in rows upon rows.
We stopped at this college type place and hiked and rested by this trial. It had some cool artwork. Each panle was made of half inch thick steel plates intricatly carved and arrainged in a circle.
The land in Canada is so flat. There is something about seeing a hole string of
over 100 traincars in one view.
That you just don't see anywhere in Wisconsin.
This field was full of these purple flowers, I'm not sure what they were,
Trains drove by constantly. We would sometimes wave to the engineer
and he would blow the whistle. That was cool.
Water was a rare sight.
I'm not sure what all this white stuff is, but is was everywhere. There were huge farms or factories around them too, I heard it had to be taken off the farm fields and stockpiled here because nothing grew in it.
There was plenty of farm land. The drive was smooth and easy with not a lot of traffic. We did see these rainclouds ahead. But we managed to drive through them.
That evening we arrived in Medican Hat. The buildings had a lot of Indian Motieffs. It was a very interracial city. and everyone was nice and friendly.
Love the flame coming out of this refinary. They are all over Canada and gas is more expensive there than in the states. They use the metric system all over Canada. We had to adjust miles to Kilometers and gallons to liters. I was still 45 years old in Canada the same as in the United States.
We just thought this made a cool photo.
We haven't seen this many huge trees standing together in a long time.
Bob is wearing his red chille peper do rag.
We saw this huge raincloud ahead. So we took a lunch break and pulled into this little gas station/resturant. It was lucky we had a town to pull into, It was quite a storm. We chatted with this dude while we all waited for the cloud to pass and dry. He was a computer game programer. The actual storm lasted about 15 minutes.
We made it to Calgary. As we crested this hill you can barley make-out the mountains in the distance. I did get to ride in a Canadian mounted police car. Bob got busted for not wearing a helmet. So I gave Bob my hemlet, and I rode in the police car to the cycle shope so we could get a helmet. I guess you need a helmet all across Canada. The Mounty couldn't beileve we made it this far without getting stopped. The ticket and the new helmet cost us about $200. His name was Officer Gorill. We had to try real hard keep from laughing. He was a pretty nice guy.
